Medication assisted treatment is the most studied approach there is for this, and it works better than willpower and better than tapering alone. What stops people is rarely the medicine. It is everything built around it.

HOW IT WORKS HERE

The doctor has been where you are

You see Dr. Bonney. The same person each time, in the same office where we do everything else, so nothing about walking in announces why you came. That discretion is there if you want it. It is not a rule, and nobody here treats this like something you have to keep quiet.

Dr. Bonney came through an opiate addiction himself, twenty years ago. He is not working from a textbook on this one. He knows the side you are standing on and he knows the side after it, which is a different kind of qualification than the one framed on the wall.

We are a faith-based practice and this is one of the places it shows. What that does not mean is a requirement. Nothing about your treatment depends on what you believe.

Medication is one part of it. The other part is having somebody who knows your history and can actually be reached. Both matter, and a program that only does the first one is not really a program.

We use buprenorphine. Other medication assisted treatments come up occasionally, and that is a case by case decision based on Dr. Bonney’s clinical assessment rather than a menu you choose from.

What it costs, and how often

$300 a month

What that covers:

•Unlimited office visits that month, not a set number of slots
•Urine drug screens
•Group if you want it, never required

The medication itself is not included. That is a separate cost.

Self-pay, and that is the point for a lot of people. We do not bill insurance, so there is no claim with a diagnosis code going to a payer or an employer. Nothing about this shows up anywhere you did not put it.

Will anyone find out?

Not from us. We are a private self-pay practice and we do not bill insurance, so there is no claim going to a payer or an employer. What you tell us stays in this office.

Do I have to be in a program or in meetings?

No. Groups are available, not required. There is an open group Wednesday mornings at ten that anyone can come to, and a men’s group Saturdays at eight. Come to both, come to one, come to neither. Your medication does not depend on it.

What if I have relapsed before?

Most people have. It is not a disqualifier here and it is not something you need to apologize for in the first appointment.

How quickly can I be seen?

Within the week. If you are ready now, we are not going to make you wait a month for a first appointment.

Do you take insurance?

No. We do not bill insurance for anything in this practice. For this service in particular, a lot of people count that as a feature rather than a drawback.

What does it cost?

$300 a month. That covers unlimited office visits for the month, urine drug screens, group if you want it, and direct messaging with Dr. Bonney through Spruce. The medication itself is separate.
